The Annual General Meeting is open to the parents of all the children who attend our setting. It is our shared forum for looking back over previous years activities and shaping the coming years plansHere at Pre-School we have strong links with our primary schools, which always ensures a smooth transition for those children starting school. We offer places from ages 2.5 years to school age.

Our aim is to provide a traditional Pre-School approach to prepare children for school and enable them to make friendships and develop communications, and independence, to encourage the best possible start to school life.

Session times:

The Pre-School is open during school term time only, 38weeks

Our typical day:

We have a fantastic, safe and exciting outdoor area which allows the children to flow freely between both indoors and outdoors and is based in Great Dalby Village Hall.

Our approach here at Great Dalby, the children take on the lead within their own learning, using the “planning is in the moment” approach with the childrens interest and next steps at the focus of everything we do.

  • 8.55 am children start to arrive, ready for the day. Some children wear the school sweatshirt or t-shirt but these are not compulsory.

  • 9.00 am the school doors are open and the team greet the children.

During arrival time children will be supported with self-registration.

  • 9.30 am is calendar time where the children gather together and sing our ‘days of the week’ song and ‘what’s the weather?

  • 10.00am Snack time! Is an important social time with the children – along with promoting children’s independence. We encourage children to pour their own drinks and count how many pieces of fruit and veg they have.

Our curriculum

We have a bespoke curriculum in Preschool that is designed specifically around the childrens needs, reflecting the childrens backgrounds and community and local traditions, Following the EYFS.

Children are allocated a key worker to nurture and support them throughout, creating a safe place for each child within the setting. They will spend time tracking their development and completing their reports. They will highlight any areas that the child might need support with within the setting or at home.

Planning within the moment allows us to adapt the planning to follow the children’s interest as well as taking on board their developmental needs.

As a pack away setting we also like to create spaces for children to self-select their own resources. ie: junk modelling with scissors, glue, tape, pens crayons and constructions resources.

Feee information

The hourly Rate for 2yr olds is £7.53 per hour, for 3 and 4 year old is £5.71 per hour, in line with the FEEE rate

We have a voluntary sundry charge. The funding that we receive from the county council is intended to cover the provision of child care, but unfortunately isn’t enough to cover additional costs such as consumables and snacks.  We have a voluntary daily sundry charge of £2.50 per day attended per child. This will be itemised on your invoices. Without this voluntary charge, it is extremely difficult for us to provide the level of provision we currently offer

The voluntary payment also helps provide the setting with, sun cream, use of online journals, celebrations events, ie birthday gifts, graduation gifts, outings and activity’s, new furniture and baking, wipes and nappy creams.

If a parent is unwilling or unable to pay the fee, the parent should email the Great Dalby committee stating why they do not wish to pay the fee.

If you have any questions please don’t hessite to ask the committee.

We ask for a £50 non refunded registration fee, this is to secure your child’s place.
